AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP Collaboration Analyst in Warsaw, Poland

You’re a qualified finance professional with some post-qualified experience. Now you’re ready to join a large global company in a critical area of our business, being an expert & partnering within finance.

As part of a dynamic, global finance group, you’ll focus largely on where AZ have collaborations / deals with third parties to develop and/or commercialise products. This is an area that has grown significantly over the past few years as AZ continues on its journey to growth. Your role will be to ensure finance elements within these agreements run smoothly. You will need to understand the details of the contracts, how the clinical trial or commercialisation activity is financed, understand both the AZ & third party activities & also ensure that milestone payments, clinical trial costs, royalties etc are paid / received in line with the contract.

You will work closely with the finance business partners who carry out the post deal management activities for the contract, you will connect with the third party & build relationships with them, plus you will work with others in AZ Finance.

This is only one of two such roles & will give detailed exposure to our core R&D business & the critically important area of third party agreements. As such it provides great knowledge, experience & exposure within AZ Finance.

Accountabilities

Your main accountabilities will include:

Third Party Contract Support

Support Global Product Team (GPT) FD with all aspects of third party contract including:

  • Understanding the financial clauses in signed contracts eg. construct of cost share arrangements, frequency of true-ups & invoicing, trigger events for milestones, profit share arrangements etc

  • Preparing detailed AZ incurred costs that need to be invoiced for review

  • Reviewing detailed third party costs that will be invoiced to AZ

  • Preparing cost statements & raising POs as required by the contract

  • Working with the third party to understand their forecast activity & reflecting this in AZ systems/other documents

  • Including contract specific clauses in budgets eg. agreed FTE rates

Payments, Receipts & Underlying Accounting

  • Ensuring payments / receipts are complete & made on time according to the contract T&Cs

  • Liaising with the AZ GFO (Financial Services) on queries & to ensure postings in underlying accounts are correct

  • Accruals / prepayments reflect the contract activity

  • Balance sheet reconciliations & other financial controls are carried out

  • Understand & communicate impact due to FX

Finance Partnering & Improvements

  • Working across multiple areas of AZ Finance to improve processes, controls & education eg. R&D Finance, GPPS (Global Products & Portfolio Strategy) Finance, GFO, Treasury & Banking Team

  • Carrying out post deal management activities & controls in conjunction with GPT FD

  • Updating Finance management on cashflows

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Qualified finance professional

  • Experience of accounting &/or controlling activities including:

  • month end close

  • reconciliations & variance analysis

  • financial controls & SOX controls

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Ability to use financial systems including SAP & Business Objects (or similar)

Desirable

  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders inside & outside of finance

  • Exceptional communication & interpersonal skills, including oral & written English

  • Experience of working in a global organisation

  • CIMA, ACA or equivalent accounting qualification
