First Data is looking for a highly skilled DevOps Engineer who needs to perform the administration, maintenance and customization of the relevant platform and/or associated software products, and recommend improvements to those areas on how the latest technologies can be used to improve the application in regards to stability, agility and cost. The position allows to recommend the technical direction for the platform. The DevOps Engineer have to drive the build and release automation and work on build and release automation of JAVA based applications developed within the First Data cloud based application architecture. This person will be part of several smaller / middle sized projects related to enhance and maintain several backend and web applications. The DevOps Engineer will work closely with the application development team in Germany Slovakia and India to setup/manage/maintain and improve build management, release management, continuous integration, deployment automation, and test orchestration. The DevOps Engineer will investigate, debug and solve all relevant operating system or other systems software problems, including those related to security and perform proactive and active vulnerability patching. This responsibility require on-call duty and service out of office times. Candidate will have the opportunity to work across a number of development teams across the First Data organization to support an agile continuous development and deployment environment. Strong technical and scripting skills as well as excellent problem solving skills required. The candidate will have experience with automation and monitoring of cloud based applications using tools and technologies such as Jenkins, Salt, JIRA, Git, Docker and Kubernetes across a range of platforms including Windows, Linux, Solaris, and AIX.

  • Job Specific Responsibilities: *
    • Solid understanding of continuous integration, deployment, and operations concepts
  • Familiarity with release engineering, system build, deploy and process automation
  • Experience with build, deploy and release management related tools such as: Jenkins/Hudson, Nexus, GIT/Gerrit, Salt, Rundeck, ...
  • Experience with configuration, monitoring, and release management
  • Experience with Jenkins/Hudson, Github and test-, logging- and monitoring tools (ELK stack, TICK stack, Grafana, Splunk)’
  • Ability to use and adapt a wide variety of open source technologies and tools (Salt, IAAS, PAAS, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with cloud based approach: Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack
  • Experience with Java based applications including servlet deployment with Jetty, Tomcat, or other servlet containers
  • Experience with Apache, JBOSS under Suse, RedHat and CentOS
  • Demonstrated experience enabling continuous deployment
  • Strong coding and scripting ability. Experience in build automation using a variety of scripting languages is a must. Expertise in programming under Linux and/or UNIX
  • Experience with production level Applications management
  • Experience in implementing code quality scanning and reporting using tools like Jenkins or Sonar is a plus
  • Experience in Agile teams is a strong plus

    Job Requirements

    • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field or equivalent is a plus. Masters degree in Computer Science preferred. 5 years of related IT experience
