About The Team:
Akamai’s Development Productivity team is charged with making it easier to develop software at Akamai. We are a highly motivated, global, and cooperative team, relying on the abilities of all team members to develop innovative and elegant ways to enhance the efficiency of Akamai’s Engineering staff.
About the Job:
This role will sit within the Service Desk group in Dev. Productivity Service Desk is responsible for providing end user support of the Dev. Productivity applications. In this role your primary responsibility will be maintaining the Dev. Prod. applications and servers. Additionally, you will be an escalation point for our first line Service Desk engineers.
Install and maintain Dev. Prod. servers and applications.
Monitor our production applications.
Automate, automate...Improve automation around various tools the team manages and develops.
Identify improvements in systems management and asset tracking.
Provide support to first line Service Desk Engineers.
Work closely with engineering to solve production problems.
Implement tools to help diagnose or mitigate problems.
Maintain user documentation and knowledge bases.
Basic Qualification and experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred, or 1-2 years additional industry experience in lieu of degree.
2+ years administrating Linux/Unix environments
2+ years in administrating web service applications (tomcat, apache, Java, Ruby on Rails)
2+ years experience in at least one of the following: ruby, python, shell, scripting languages
2+ years knowledge of SQL - mysql, postgres.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across teams and organizations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to clearly document issues.

Desired Qualification and experience
Experience with IT Automation tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef)
Experience with virtualization and containerization (Vagrant and Docker)
Advanced knowledge of database administration
Customer service orientation
