The Chocolate R&D Packaging group responsibilities cover all Chocolate packaging development, productivity and innovation - execution and leadership of all approved projects within the Mondelez Europe (MEU) region.

Key responsibilities:

  • Independently plan and manage small to medium approved packaging related projects, requiring varied business interfaces. Projects will be focused on those running at Mondelez plants and third parties supplying Mondelez Europe. Take responsibility for packaging development elements of larger approved projects.

  • Forge effective working relationships with internal and external partners/stakeholders.

  • Cooperate closely with with Procurement and PCM.

  • Interface with key contacts within Product RD&Q, Procurement, Marketing, Operations, BD&E and CS&L

  • Liaise with and drive suppliers in order to generate best in class solutions

  • Independently investigate pack material issues encountered at plants during day to day business and identify (or facilitate identification of) solutions.

  • Plan, organise and execute packaging trials.

  • Generate and approve material specifications based on trial work completed.

  • Identify, manage and support packaging cost reduction programs.

  • Participate in other packaging related initiatives as required.

  • Keep up to date with packaging developments within the industry and share within team as appropriate.

  • Ensure all activities are carried out with due regard to Corporate Policies and applicable legislation.

  • University degree in science or engineering

  • 3-5 years of relevant (packaging) work experience, preferably at a multinational packaged-food company

  • 1-2 years of project supervision

  • Practical knowledge and experience of a range of packaging materials, processes and manufacturing methods

  • Knowledge of current sustainability trends and issues in relation to packaging

  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of food packaging technologies and general knowledge of food related technologies

  • Proven numerical abilities in creating and interpreting technical data

  • Drive for results – can be counted on to achieve/exceed goals consistently

  • Ability to plan and conduct short, medium and long-term projects, work on several projects simultaneously, and manage time and other resources effectively

  • Understanding of food safety aspects (HACCP)

  • Proven numerical abilities in creating and interpreting technical data

  • Fluent English

  • Travel requirement - around 30 %
