Citi’s Global Fund Services Operations comprises Fund Accounting, Middle Office and Transfer Agency and is supported by c. 3,000 staff, globally.
Our Warsaw Valuations function forms part of Fund Accounting EMEA which also comprises Asset Pricing, Asset Servicing, Fund Accounting (Dublin, Edinburgh & Luxembourg) and Change Management.
The Valuations function was previously two separate functions; Net Asset Valuations and Reconciliations, these were amalgamated during 2017 to create a single function covering both. The new structure provides for greater efficiency, streamlines work & comms across teams and allows for clear ownership & accountability.
Fund Accounting EMEA supports c 40 Clients, 5,000 Funds, $1trn AUA and produces over 175,000 NAV’s per month. The team consists of c 600 Fund Accounting professionals, most of which are based in Warsaw.
The Warsaw valuations function has over 200 Fund Accounting professionals and has a client-centric structure.
The role-holder is part of the Fund Accounting EMEA Management Team and the Warsaw CSC SSO Leadership Team.
The Fund Services Operations has undergone significant transformation over the last 2 years and is entering the next phase of its strategic roadmap; to deliver market leading capabilities. As it relates to Fund Accounting EMEA, the role-holder is expected to play a significant part in defining and delivering these.
To lead the Valuations Department Function in Warsaw delivering clients with exceptional service levels. In addition, to ensure local and regional alignment with Fund Accounting practices and policies, while adhering to local regulations, laws and requirements.
Managing a team of 100+ FTE, the role-holder will be directly responsible for the accurate and timely production of daily Net Asset Valuations across a number of our Platinum clients in addition to related reporting, controls and support functions. This also includes the cash & stock reconciliation processes for the respective fund families / clients.
The role-holder will be required to support and deliver on key strategic initiatives relevant to the function, both regionally & globally. Ensuring a robust and proactive risk & control environment exists across the operation is a key criterion.
This role is a senior managerial position, reporting directly to the Head of Fund Accounting EMEA with a local matrix reporting line to the Warsaw CSC SSO Site Head. The role is a key and senior position within the Regional Fund Accounting Management team. Working in close partnership with peers in Warsaw, Dublin, Edinburgh and Luxembourg will be a key success factor, in addition to providing clear leadership and direction to his / her teams locally.
The successful candidate will act as senior escalation point for our teams and stakeholders, including our Product, Technology, Client Executive, Compliance & Legal functions.
Talent Management and Development is a key part of the role, ensuring robust attraction and retention strategies exist as well as succession plans for the management teams.
Provide the operational leadership to move the business forward in line with Security Services strategy
Create a market leading Fund Accounting platform providing competitive advantage to our clients and stakeholders by leading and delivering strategic Fund Accounting initiatives regionally / globally.
Provide our clients with Industry leadings service standards as it relates to the delivery of Net Asset Valuations and Client Service
Lead a team of professionals across jurisdictions and work closely with peers across the region to deliver consistently strong results
Attract, develop & retain key talent ensuring robust succession plans exist.
Facilitate people / staffing related initiatives aimed at increasing engagement and minimizing staff attrition.
Ensure appropriate MIS and KPI’s are utilized consistently across teams with particular focus on key metrics (unit costs and efficiency ratios) and external and internal benchmarks.
Provide one consistent service, process & controls to clients and send-sites will align with our strategic service model and Product Catalogues.
Implement best practice process and controls across locations to achieve high quality and scalable service output
Manage budget (US$ and headcount) according to budget commitments both on and offshore
Identify and deliver efficiency and cost saving initiatives on an on-going basis
Embed a culture of achieving continuous improvement / marginal gains across the function
Partner with the key internal functions, including Product, Sales, Client Executive, Technology and Trustee to ensure our business and client’s needs are met
Ensure Operational risk is managed effectively across the function and is fully compliant all regulations
Ensure a robust and appropriate governance oversight model is in place to manage offshore teams
Attract, develop and retain key talent across the operations.
Manage the performance of the direct reports (Section Managers), addressing poor performance sensitively and promptly and recognizing exceptional performance using the full range of supports within Citi
15 years’ experience in Financial Services / Fund Administration and experience managing large functions
Third Level degree and professional Qualification in Accounting
Strong technical knowledge of the Funds Industry, Products and local / regional regulatory environment
Strategic thinker with a track record in program delivery
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Ability to interact with senior management and clients showing in-depth knowledge of Funds Services
Proven ability to provide leadership to large teams both in-location and remotely
Strong operational knowledge of risk management processes and practices
An advanced Customer Service mindset with skill to instill a client centric culture across the operations
Superior people leadership/management skills with the ability to engage employees in relation to the future vision of the organization
