Fundamental Credit Review Analyst (Consumer)

Position Objective :

Fundamental Credit Risk (FCR) is a control function within the Independent Risk organisation of Bank Handlowy. It provides independent, objective, reliable, valued and timely assurance to Bank Handlowy (BHW) Supervisory Board, BHW Senior Management and Regulators (if required) over the effectiveness of credit risk management and the ability of the Business and Independent Risk to identify, monitor and mitigate current and emerging credit risks across BHW.

The credit review analyst reports to the BHW FCR Head and will manage Business Monitoring and Review activities for BHW Consumer business (GCB) and will also provide analytical support for the Fundamental Credit Risk Consumer team globally, under the Inter Company Services Agreement (ICSA) executed between BHW and Citigroup. This will include responsibility for portfolio performance analysis and reporting for consumer Review Entities and support for Lead Reviewers in their management of Business Monitoring and execution of Reviews. The analyst may also be required to support the broader FCR group on various projects and presentations.

Key Responsibilities:

• For BHW Consumer (GCB):

  • Monitor and assess portfolio performance, identify and evaluate emerging risks

  • Review and assess the appropriateness, completeness and usage trends of the credit risk components of the Risk Appetite Framework for assigned portfolios

  • Assess effectiveness of the credit risk processes and standards to promote leading practices and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Assess business and risk staffing models to ensure appropriate resources;

  • Ensure that Corrective Action Plans are appropriate, monitored and duly validated addressing concerns resulting from FCR Reviews or Business Monitoring activities

  • Ensure that BHW FCR documents including the Fundamental Credit Review Reports meet quality and consistency standards

  • Prepare Credit Assessment Documents in accordance with FCR BHW standards

  • Maintain ongoing contact with other BHW Control Functions and Citi Consultants on relevant issues

• For Consumer FCR globally (Citigroup):

  • Retrieve portfolio data from Citi Risk and Basel databases and prepare portfolio tables for Global Consumer Group entities on a quarterly basis

  • Run the FCR Consumer Scorecard quarterly based on portfolio information downloaded from centralized credit data repositories

  • Periodically retrieve, analyze and disseminate to FCR Lead Reviewers information from Global Consumer Credit Risk Management systems such as PMACS, Business Monitor or WebPAS

  • Use tools and techniques to effectively identify and assess risk trends within and across consumer credit portfolios

  • Communicate results of analysis and observations to Lead Reviewers

  • Support Lead Reviewers and regional teams with Business Monitoring and Review activities (Planning, Fieldwork, and Post Fieldwork) including:

  • Creating and updating FCR documents in the FCR system

  • Collecting and keeping track of Business deliverables during reviews

  • Attending key review meetings (merge, internal and business close) and keep minutes as required

  • Assigning Credit Assessment Documents and overseeing input of work-papers by Guest Reviewers in accordance with FCR quality standards

• Support the Head of Global Consumer Credit Review Oversight & Execution in special projects

Knowledge / Experience :

• 5+ years work experience in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or similar

• Experience in consumer risk management with hands-on statistical analysis related to consumer portfolios & policies

• Formal credit training on components of consumer credit cycle

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field

• Knowledge of BHW’s organization and systems preferred

Skills/Competencies :

• Good knowledge of statistical tools and methodology in understanding/analyzing portfolio credit risk

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Access, Word, Visio, etc.), SAS and SQL; Visual Basic etc.

• Prior experience in data analytics using SAS/SQL is highly desirable

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Detail oriented with ability to work independently and prioritize workload

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English- ability to express and communicate concisely and clearly with various levels of management
