Akamai’s System communications team is looking for a talented software engineer in test to join our new hybrid team of engineers and operations specialists. This team will adopt, manage, and extend security systems and services that are part of Akamai’s core infrastructure and essential to the safety and security of our network. You will be responsible for ensuring the system stability and performance of our systems, running and supporting stable testnet environments and assisting with help list traffic and operational escalations. About the Team
Akamai’s Systems Communications (SysComm) is a talented cross-functional group of engineers that builds and runs the fault-tolerant and highly scalable infrastructure that supports Akamai's global network. We develop distributed systems that behind the scene support Akamai's global network. This team is responsible for providing services that Akamai applications use for secure authentication and communication, securing servers, auditing and monitoring for all Akamai's machines running across the world.
Install, support and maintain testing infrastructure (testnet).
Administrate software release cycles.
Become a subject matter expert (SME) of several internal highly-distributed systems.
Design and execute automated regressions tests.
Design and develop targeted tests for cutting-edge features.
Validate software functionalities against applicable requirements.
Create and develop alerting and monitoring tools.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
5+ years industry experience.
3+ years Linux/Unix administration experience (Ubuntu/RHEL/CentOS).
Experience with networking protocols, including TCP, HTTP, SSL.
Experience in analyzing problems and identifying root causes.
Experience with SQL and Databases.
Experience in scripting languages (Bash, Perl, Python).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to operate in an ever-changing and ad-hoc environment.
Ability working closely with developers to design test criteria and develop test plans.
Experience with Software Release process.
Experience supporting testing activities for multiple applications/releases.
Strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
Solid experience in network troubleshooting.
Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming and Languages (Java, C++).
