About the Job

The Business Operations Analyst will be a key member of the Decision Support team inside the Networks Productivity organization. As a member of the Decision Support team, the Business Operations Analyst will be in the forefront of Financial and Operating metrics and analytics environment and will be looked upon to bring superior reporting skills, analysis and value-add support to the global Networks organization.


  • Perform as an operations analyst for the Networks organization, ensuring day-to-day reporting and analysis of Akamai’s Network Operations – primarily using NetArch, Siebel and other systems.

  • Ensure effective data management and reporting on key metrics for operations. Create reports and analyze data for patterns that indicate problems that need to be addressed or opportunities to investigate. Investigate root causes and work with Operations and Senior Networks Management to address them.

  • Communicate effectively with business resources in a timely manner. Exhibit superior verbal and written communication skills with all levels of management, key business partners and IT.

  • Work closely with IT/Business Applications to estimate and justify new efforts, define business requirements, and ensure effective business user acceptance testing.

  • Work closely with internal customers to understand current and future business needs.

  • Exhibit the ability to take initiative, work with minimal daily direction, and prioritize time effectively to deliver in a timely manner.

  • Identify and analyze any needs and trends requiring special attention.

About the Team

The Decision Support team provides overall coordination and oversight for all internal planning, analytical, and reporting activities for the Networks organization to improve operational and financial efficiency. It has primary responsibility for ensuring that Networks Leadership have the necessary information to understand and take full ownership for their respective areas of responsibility. A primary goal is to ensure that Networks, as an organization, understands its operational and financial commitments to Akamai, and that processes and systems are built or improved to facilitate timely and relevant scorecards and reporting, business planning and analysis, and long range operational and strategic planning.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Economics, Business Administration with a quantitative focus, exposure to Data Science), MBA preferred

  • 2 years of experience in financial and business operations and reporting

Desired Skills

  • strong analytical skills with ability to provide data-backed analysis

  • advanced user in Microsoft Excel and proficient other MS Office tools for managing data

  • strong working knowledge on Salesforce.com

  • knowledge/experience in working on an ERP environment. Oracle/Siebel Analytics experience is preferred

  • strong drive for results, ability to handle ambiguity and cross team dynamics

  • manage projects to ensure defined requirements are being met and adhere to schedule constraints

  • excellent analytical, verbal and organizational skills a must

  • ability to interact effectively with a variety of diverse departments and personalities
