DNV GL IT Infrastructure Engineer in Gdynia, Poland

DNV GL Global Shared Services IT is a truly global internal organization with approximately 400 employees located in 20 countries delivering IT services and capabilities to the DNV GL company and its customers. We want to strengthen our GSS IT Global Monitoring Centre capacity in Gdynia and are looking for an IT Infrastructure Engineer.

The candidate should have a thorough interest and understanding of all aspects related to operation and support of IT infrastructure.

In order to ensure effective, stable and secure operation of DNV GL’s global IT infrastructure, the key responsibilities for GSS IT Global Monitoring Centre IT Infrastructure Engineer are:

  • Server and application monitoring

  • Backup operation monitoring

  • Print queues management

  • Security patching

  • Server software & firmware patching

  • Troubleshooting

  • Conducting and supervising monthly maintenance process

  • Linux Server OS administration level experience including knowledge of Linux concept, processes, performance indicators, disk usage, command line administration, ability to properly monitor and resolve first line problems, identify and escalate serious problems

  • Microsoft Windows Server OS administrator level experience (advanced administration knowledge is required)

  • Experience in infrastructure monitoring (using specialized monitoring software like Microsoft SCOM, Nagios etc.) – including advanced monitoring of servers based on Linux and Windows Operating Systems, like web or application servers (apache, tomcat, cups). HP hardware solutions knowledge is welcome

  • Knowledge of backup software and backup storage similar to EMC Avamar

  • Knowledge of enterprise storage solutions

  • Relevant experience from management of global infrastructure operations

  • Knowledge of IT Service Management and best practices (e.g. ITIL)

  • University education level preferred

  • Proactive and solution oriented mindset and service attitude and ability to build a good working environment across GSS IT

  • Proficiency in English: strong verbal and written communication skills (the working language is English)

Format of operation and duties

  • Shift and duty based work (24/5 – day, afternoon and night; Sunday 23:00 > Friday 23:00)

  • Monthly Maintenance once per month (Saturday/Sunday)

  • Backup related duty (weekend coverage rotated between team members)
